Google News • New UI
If there’s a client who understands Mies van der Rohe’s motto “Less is more”, it’s Google. This “See n’ Say” spot showcases the new features of the redesigned user interface for Google News.
In this project, I was fortunate to be a part of the entire creative process: bouncing narrative ideas with the amazing designer/director Justin Fines, designing side by side with him, exploring the animation technique, and setting every animation key frame was a wholehearted experience.
In this video, I explored the possibilities of mimicking the very tactile stop motion animation technique using a digital medium. I paid close attention to details like the flickering caused by subtle changes of set lights, the secondary movement of handling the camera, and piecing it all together to form an animation.
